The Golden State Warriors overcame a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit behind Yaxel Lendeborg to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 94-40 on July 20 and claim the 2026 NBA Summer League championship. Lendeborg scored 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and added two steals, with nine of his points coming in the final period, and was named the game's most valuable player.
He outscored Memphis' third overall draft pick, who finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
"Man, their butts got tight. They puckered up, you know what I mean? Some of us are built for the moment, and some aren't," Lendeborg said in a July 20 Twitter post. Rick Barry presented the trophy to the Warriors after the game. Warriors officials described the result as an encouraging start to the upcoming season, while Lendeborg told reporters he was proud of the moment and glad the team won the title.
The New Jersey native previously helped Michigan win the national championship with 13 points in the title game despite an injury and was named Big Ten Player of the Year last season. He has not yet appeared in an official NBA regular-season game.
