Golf Ball Distance Rules Delayed to 2030 Instead of 2028

The R&A, United States Golf Association, DP World Tour and PGA announced on June 18 that golf ball distance regulations originally set to phase in for 2028 will instead begin in 2030. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the change represents a "big victory" for the sport. He congratulated PGA Tour commissioner Brian Rolapp, the PGA Tour and the governing bodies for the outcome.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton with contributing to the result. " Trump described the idea of restricting golf ball distance as "ridiculous" and said "nobody wanted" it, especially PGA Tour players.
He added that people do not want to arrive at a course and be told their drives will travel 20 yards shorter. Trump recommended that the USGA agree to keep the current ball unchanged far into the future rather than allow further distance increases. He wrote that the game of golf is "hot as a pistol" and that restricting distance serves no purpose.
