EngadgetGoogle announced new voice-based prompting features for its Workspace apps at the Google I/O developer conference. The updates let users create draft documents in Docs, turn spoken thoughts into structured notes in Keep, and ask questions about email in Gmail.
Docs, users can speak a single request that pulls information from Drive and email, then assembles it into a document. A demonstration showed the system adding resume details, event logistics and anecdotes without the user typing. Google said the feature handles changes of mind within the same spoken turn, removing the need for multiple typed follow-ups.
Keep, users can speak freely and the app will convert the transcription into a formatted note or list. The company released a separate dictation tool called Rambler earlier this month that works across apps.
Gmail, users can speak questions to Gemini about upcoming flights, booking codes or appointments. The system responds with the requested details. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said users will eventually be able to create and edit documents using only their voice.
