The AI Overviews feature, which uses AI to summarize Google Search results, will summarize emails for Gmail users in the workplace.
Gmail users can ask questions in search using natural language with AI Overviews, receiving concise answers without opening and reading different emails.
AI Overviews can be used to ask business-related questions about performance improvements, project milestones, invoices, comments on decks, and trip details. AI Overviews creates instant summaries pulled from across multiple emails and conversations. The feature is the default setting if Gemini for Workspace in Gmail is enabled and if Workspace Intelligence access to Gmail is enabled.
End users must have Smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet enabled for AI Overviews, as well as Google Workspace smart features enabled. Previously available to consumers with Google AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions, AI Overviews will now come to business, enterprise, and education customers.
It will be available through Business Starter, Standard, and Plus products; Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus products; and Frontline Plus and Google AI Pro for Education editions and add-ons.
Google is also making AI Overviews in Drive broadly available to eligible Workspace and Google AI plans, following its previous beta status. Separately, TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 will occur in San Francisco, CA, from October 13-15, 2026. The event will gather 10,000+ founders, investors, and tech leaders for three days of 250+ tactical sessions.
