flipboard.comJustin McLeod founded Overtone and raised $18 million for the new company, TechCrunch reported. Match Group, FirstMark Capital and Pace Capital participated in the round. McLeod stepped down as CEO of Hinge in 2025.
Match Group, which owns Hinge along with Tinder and OkCupid, became an investor in the new venture. Overtone describes itself as a voice- and audio-forward service enabled by AI that provides highly curated introductions. McLeod wrote that the service is not a dating app and does not use profiles, algorithmic feeds or likes, matches and chats.
“We get to know each person deeply, learning about them in their own voice, hearing their own unique story,” McLeod wrote. ” Overtone will become available later in 2026 but only in certain locations. Relationship expert Esther Perel, Match CEO Spencer Rascoff and leadership advisor Diana Chapman joined the board.
