Hong Kong Primary School to Merge With Neighbor After Enrollment Drop
Fresh Fish Traders School will combine with CCC Kei Tsun Primary School on September 1. The move follows a warning from education authorities two months earlier and the allocation of zero Primary One classes for the coming term.
South China Morning PostA 57-year-old primary school in Hong Kong will merge with a neighboring institution starting September 1 after receiving its third closure threat in two decades. Fresh Fish Traders School in Tai Kok Tsui was among 15 schools allocated zero Primary One classes for the new academic year. The allocation stems from a continued decline in the city’s student population.
Under a plan approved by the Education Bureau, the school will combine operations with nearby CCC Kei Tsun Primary School. A circular issued on Tuesday outlined the arrangement. Principal Sze Chi-king wrote to parents that the name and scale of the school will change, while commitment to every pupil will remain unchanged.
The circular stated that parent briefing sessions will be held soon to explain curriculum alignment and support arrangements for students.
