The Charlotte Hornets traded LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Naz Reid, an unprotected first-round pick in 2033, three first-round pick swaps and three second-round picks. The transaction occurred the morning after the 2026 NBA draft and followed a separate deal that sent Julius Randle to Brooklyn.
Minnesota receives Ball and forward Josh Green.
Charlotte receives Reid along with the future draft assets. The Timberwolves had previously re-signed Reid and Randle while losing guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker to free agency.
The Timberwolves now control none of their own first-round picks from 2027 through 2033, with their 2032 selection also restricted by second-apron rules. The team added guard Ayo Dosunmu on a five-year, $112 million contract, pairing him with Ball and Anthony Edwards. The club has not announced further roster moves.
