Hovland Takes One-Shot Lead After Scheffler Bogeys Final Hole at Travelers Championship

Viktor Hovland shot a 6-under-par 64 in the third round of the Travelers Championship on June 27 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, and took a one-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler. Hovland birdied the 18th hole from 6 feet to finish his round. Scheffler three-putted from 25 feet for a bogey on the same hole, creating a two-shot swing that handed Hovland the lead.

Hovland made seven birdies and one bogey overall. Scheffler had led after the second round following a 60 on June 26. Hovland caught Scheffler with three birdies in his first four holes of the round before overtaking him on the 18th.

Hovland said he and Scheffler share a good rapport. “We have a good rapport, and I think we both have a lot of respect for each other’s games,” he said. “When he hits a good shot, I try to hit a good shot, and there’s mutual respect.

We say, Good shot, to each other. ” Hovland also noted that the pair had separated themselves from the field but warned that others remain in contention. “I think Scottie and I have separated ourselves from the rest of the field, but at the same time, you know, 14- or 15-under is still very much in this thing if they go and shoot a very low score tomorrow,” he said.

“So we still have to go out there and, you know, play very similar to what we did today. ” The final round is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, at TPC River Highlands.
