Indian authorities are seeking to recover the body of climber Dorje Morup, known as Green Boots, from the upper slopes of Mount Everest. washingtontimes.com reported that the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has started hiring high-altitude recovery specialists for the task on the mountain's northern route in Tibet. Morup died in May 1996 during a six-member Indo-Tibetan Border Police expedition.
Three climbers turned back as weather worsened near the summit, while Morup and two others continued and perished in a storm that killed eight people across multiple expeditions that season. The remains lie in a cave above 27,000 feet on Everest's northeast route, which is controlled by Chinese authorities.
