The Indiana Fever held a nearly two-hour meeting with players and coaches on Monday after a 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire and an exchange between the star guard and head coach during the game. Veteran guard Sophie Cunningham said the meeting focused on the team’s identity and defensive execution. She stated the group discussed ownership of roles and the need for greater toughness on defense.
Meeting details Cunningham told reporters the meeting was initiated by coaches and later became player-led. She added that the team is currently relying on only one defensive scheme and needs to improve its defensive IQ to compete. Head coach Stephanie White described the session as productive and said it included questions from the coaching staff.
