Indiana moved to No. 4 in the ESPN WNBA Power Rankings after completing a 3-1 western road trip that ended with a 106-92 loss to Los Angeles on Wednesday. The Fever returned to Indianapolis with a 14-9 record and will play their next four games before the All-Star break at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Kelsey Mitchell scored 25 or more points for the sixth straight game and is averaging 22.7 points while shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from three-point range. After the loss she said, "Anything you want to do on the offensive end, you can't do when you don't defend the ball.
" Caitlin Clark returned from a two-game absence caused by back issues and scored nine points in 16 minutes against Los Angeles before adding 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 24 minutes against Las Vegas.
Aliyah Boston missed the Sparks game with a leg injury but recorded 21 points and nine rebounds against the Mercury and 19 points and 11 rebounds against the Aces. Golden State stayed at No. 1 in the rankings for a second consecutive week with a 17-7 record and a seven-game winning streak.
The Valkyries defeated Toronto 83-75 and Connecticut 79-64 last week, with Janelle Salaun totaling 46 points and 13 rebounds on 57.1 percent shooting during that span. Indiana hosts Golden State on July 15 before facing Washington on July 20.
