Indie Sales Acquires Sequel Rights Paris-based Indie Sales has boarded “Quo Vadis, Aida? – The Missing Part,” the sequel to Jasmila Žbanić’s Oscar and BAFTA-nominated movie. The project has just started shooting in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Indie Sales will launch international sales on the film at the Cannes Market. The sequel is expected to be delivered in Spring 2027. It is produced by Deblokada in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with co-productions from Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion in Austria, Topkapi in the Netherlands, Razor Film in Germany, Madants in Poland, Indie Prod in France, Woodz in Croatia, Plattform in Sweden, and Artikulacija in Montenegro. The film has received support from Eurimages, Sarajevo Film Fund, Austrian Film Institute, Vienna Film Fund, Netherlands Film Fund, German Federal Film Board, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Polish Film Institute, Aide Aux Cinémas du Monde, Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée, Institut Français, Croatian Audiovisual Film Center, Montenegro Film Fund, Swedish Film Institute, Film i Väst, BH Telecom, Canton Sarajevo, TRT, BHRT, RTV Federation B&H, ORF, ÖFI+, ZDF/ARTE, and Canal+/Ciné+.

Plot and Cast Details The sequel picks up in the immediate aftermath of the fall of Srebrenica in 1995.

In the film, Aida receives word that her sons, who were taken by Serbian forces, may be alive and held in a camp. Aida launches a desperate search through a refugee center crowded with thousands of displaced women. Jasna Đuričić returns in the English-speaking lead role of Aida.

Simon McBurney, a British actor who appeared in “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” joins the cast. Liam Cunningham, an Irish actor who appeared in “Game of Thrones,” also joins the cast. Arieh Worthalter, a Belgian actor who appeared in “The Goldman Case,” joins the cast.

Dmitrij Schaad, a German actor who appeared in “Killing Eve,” joins the cast. The film includes a regional cast alongside the international cast. ” premiered at Venice in 2020. It was sold globally by Indie Sales.

The film was nominated for best international feature at the Oscars in 2021. Jasna Đuričić won the European Film Award for best actress for her portrayal of Aida in the original film. ” Jasmila Žbanić’s TV show “I Know Your Soul” premiered at Venice in 2023.
