foxnews.comIran's top joint military command announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, barring oil tankers and commercial ships from passage. The Revolutionary Guard separately declared the waterway closed to all vessels and warned that any unauthorized passage will be targeted.
The announcement was made on June 11.
Imagery showed what is being called the last ship crossing the strait on an IRGC-approved route heading to Qatar. The imagery and announcement came right after the Revolutionary Guard’s statement.
Hormuz is the world’s most important oil chokepoint. The closure effectively shuts the waterway.
