Iran Launches Missiles at Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan After US Strikes on Iran

Iran fired drones and missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain on 19 July 2026, according to Al Jazeera. Kuwait and Bahrain each reported multiple waves of strikes that day. Kuwaiti authorities said one attack started a fire at a power and water plant.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy condemned the strikes. Bahrain’s military said its air defences had thwarted the attacks. Iran’s army stated that one strike on Kuwait targeted a US ammunition depot at Camp al-Adiri and air defence radars at Ali Al Salem airbase.
An Iranian missile was fired toward the Jordanian city of Aqaba on the same day. Sirens sounded in Jordan. Israeli and Jordanian forces intercepted the missile, Israel’s military said. The Iranian attacks followed overnight US strikes on sites in Hormozgan and Khuzestan provinces and on Qeshm Island.
The US military said the strikes aimed to punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces for earlier attacks in Jordan that killed two US service members and to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s nuclear energy agency said the US struck an under-construction nuclear power plant in the country’s south-west.
The IRGC said it blocked two ships that tried to use an unsafe route in the Strait of Hormuz and stated both vessels had been involved in an accident.
A US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding signed last month had extended an April ceasefire and agreed to the gradual reopening of the strait.
