"Tehran 57" centers on Iranians participating in an investment project involving wealthy American businessmen. It portrays daily life and social atmosphere in the capital before the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The scene references a persistent but unverified claim that President Trump traveled to Iran before 1979 to purchase the Ramsar Hotel and develop a casino.
Iran International reported that the rumor has circulated for years.
The photograph that fueled the rumor was taken in Atlantic City in 1988. No records show that President Trump visited Iran at any point before the revolution. U.S. military actions that resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
