Iranian forces say they disabled two U.S. radars in Oman

Iranian forces reported knocking out two U.S. radars in Oman near the Strait of Hormuz. One radar tracked aircraft over the Ghanam region. The other was a maritime control radar on the As Salamah islands, also known as the Quoin Islands, at the northern mouth of the strait.

Iranian forces said both radars are now disabled.

They stated the strait remains under their control. The As Salamah islands sit at the narrowest point of the waterway that carries a significant share of global oil shipments.

The Ghanam region radar monitored air traffic approaching the strait from the south. The maritime radar on the islands tracked vessel movements entering and exiting the waterway. No independent confirmation of the reported strikes has been released.
