Iranian Foreign Minister Says War With Israel Has Ended
Iran's foreign minister stated that the first phase of an agreement ends the war with Israel. Implementation begins Friday, with nuclear issues and sanctions addressed later.
middleeasteye.netIran's foreign minister said the announcement that the war with Israel is over represents the main outcome of the first phase of an agreement made public the previous morning. The official added that formal implementation of the memorandum begins Friday. More difficult issues remain for later stages.
Nuclear matters and the lifting of sanctions will be handled only in the final stage during a 60-day negotiating period with Washington, the foreign minister said. The official linked the broader agreement to Lebanon, stating that the war there must end before the conflict with Iran can be considered concluded.
Any Israeli attack on Lebanon or continued occupation of its territory would count as a violation of the memorandum, the foreign minister added.
