Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement on Friday that links a ceasefire to the disarmament of Hezbollah and a phased Israeli withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon. " Israel is required to "progressively redeploy" rather than withdraw immediately, with two pilot zones designated for gradual transfer of security responsibility to Lebanese forces.

Reactions from officials Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the deal as "a historic achievement for Israel" that delivers "a major blow" to Iran and Hezbollah. " National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called the agreement "a big mistake" and said he had requested a cabinet vote to reject it, arguing that Lebanon would not disarm Hezbollah.
" Qatar’s prime minister and Saudi Arabia’s foreign affairs minister discussed the agreement in a phone call, according to a Qatari statement.
Security measures Israel’s defense minister said forces have been ordered to prepare for an "extended stay" in the security zone. The Lebanese army urged citizens to act responsibly during planned demonstrations and said it would not allow breaches of security.
