At least six Israeli citizens occupied a two-story house under construction in Jalud before July 2, 2026. The owner said appeals to Israeli authorities produced no resolution, while the IDF confirmed dispersing an initial gathering but offered no further comment.
At least six Israeli citizens occupied an unfinished two-story house in the West Bank village of Jalud on or before July 2, 2026. The property belonged to Palestinian resident Mohammad Salameh, who had been building it for his recently engaged son. Video verified by Reuters showed the group moving on the roof of the house below a nearby hill.

Salameh stated that appeals to the IDF and police brought no help. He said, "Only God knows, if there is law and order then they will leave. " Israel's police did not respond to a request for comment.
The IDF said it received a report earlier in the week and that soldiers arrived and dispersed the initial gathering. The military did not comment on any continued presence by the settlers inside the house after that dispersal. Raed al-Haj Mohammad, head of the Jalud village council, said settlers have now moved to within 100 meters of another house under construction at the edge of the village.
Jalud has faced five major settler attacks since the Gaza war began in 2023, including burned homes, damaged vehicles and uprooted trees. A UN inquiry reported in June 2026 that settler attacks on Palestinian villages and agricultural land had risen 130 percent since 2023.
Israeli officials have issued 114 military orders establishing, expanding or dividing settlement jurisdiction areas since October 2023, a total roughly equal to the number issued over the previous 22 years combined.
Construction on Salameh's house had stalled after the Gaza war erupted in 2023, when his son lost work and family finances tightened. Salameh noted that a neighboring two-story house could face the same outcome.
