Israeli forces expand ground operations in eastern Gaza City

Israeli forces carried out air strikes on Saturday that struck makeshift tents in Gaza City and the al-Mawasi area, which had been designated a safe zone under a ceasefire map agreed last year. The strikes killed and wounded residents without prior warning.

Ground operations also expanded in eastern Gaza City. Forces moved the yellow demarcation line deeper into al-Musaddar village by 500 metres, according to families contacted in central Gaza.

Ceasefire status The ceasefire reached last year remains in effect on paper but has not halted daily air strikes, the report stated.

Regional reactions Iran’s foreign minister left for Baghdad to meet Iraqi officials on bilateral ties and regional developments. Iran’s foreign ministry condemned recent U.S. strikes on its southern coast as violations of the ceasefire outlined in a memorandum of understanding.

Bahrain’s foreign ministry condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks, calling them a violation of its sovereignty and urging an emergency UN Security Council meeting. Israeli residents near the Lebanon border expressed doubt that a deal with Lebanon would alter conditions on the ground and said they wanted continued military presence in southern Lebanon.

A Democratic lawmaker stated that U.S. strikes on Iran violate the War Powers Resolution passed by Congress this week.
