The Israeli government unanimously approved a proposal to allocate funding and incentives aimed at encouraging countries to move their embassies to Jerusalem. The plan includes financial support for embassy construction and relocation along with logistical assistance.

The plan also calls for encouraging meetings and delegations in Jerusalem and expanding cooperation in additional fields. It follows earlier diplomatic efforts to open or transfer embassies to the city. Countries that have already relocated embassies to Jerusalem include Paraguay and Fiji. Ecuador opened a representative office in the city in December.
The U.S. administration has supported the effort.
A proposal to allocate land for a permanent U.S. Embassy was approved in March. During an event last Wednesday, America's Deputy Ambassador to Israel urged foreign diplomats to advocate for moving embassies to Jerusalem. "We are in the process of moving all assets and personnel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
This is the heart of public diplomacy," the deputy ambassador said. "Give a push to moving the embassies to Jerusalem," he added.
