Israeli Government Votes to Recognize Armenian Genocide

The Israeli government voted on Sunday to formally recognize the Armenian Genocide. The decision followed a resolution proposal introduced by the Foreign Minister late last week. Officials described the recognition as both a moral and historical duty.

The Holy See and the European Parliament have also issued recognitions.

The proposal will now be brought before the Knesset plenum for a vote.

Officials stated that the genocide has been extensively documented yet remains subject to an institutionalized campaign of denial and minimization.
