The Israeli prime minister said India provides consistent support for Israel at a time when other countries have expressed criticism over military actions in the region. Speaking at an event in the West Bank, the prime minister described the relationship as unique and noted that India represents a large population with widespread backing for Israel.
The prime minister also referenced previous visits and public events that highlighted the ties.
February agreements and infrastructure ties In February, Indian officials signed agreements covering defense, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and trade during a visit to Israel. The same month, India’s involvement in the Haifa port was expanded through a consortium that holds operating rights until 2054.
The port stake forms part of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, a project first announced in 2023.
Earlier statements and domestic reactions The prime minister previously described a 2018 visit to India as a “love-fest” during a CBS News interview. Indian opposition figures later criticized the government’s stance on regional conflicts, including statements made in April. Pew Research Center data published in April showed shifts in U.S. public opinion toward Israel and its leadership.
