Jake Paul is organizing an all-women boxing event as part of his promotional efforts in combat sports. The event, the second of its kind under Most Valuable Promotions, is set for Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York. It will air in primetime on ESPN.
The card includes four title fights, marking a significant broadcast on a major network. Paul told the New York Post that he is coming for a big piece of the combat sports pie as he enters his 30s next year. He emphasized using his personal fights to attract viewers and build the promotion's roster.
The main event pits Alycia Baumgardner, with a record of 17-1, against Bo Mi Re Shin, with a record of 18-3-3, for the Super Featherweight championship.
Paul described this as one of the largest fights in women's boxing. The promotion seeks to establish a presence alongside established entities in the sport. Paul stated that his fights have helped elevate other boxers, such as by bringing new audiences to events.
He noted that while he plans to continue pursuing a world championship in his weight class, his long-term focus is on promotion. At a young age compared to other promoters, Paul highlighted his large social media following as an advantage.
“I've always said that, really, since Day 1, that arguably I would have a bigger impact in combat sports outside of the ring than even in my own fights.”
Most Valuable Promotions is also entering the mixed martial arts sector with an upcoming card in May. This event includes several notable fighters and aims to provide alternatives in the MMA market, which is dominated by the UFC. The UFC has faced legal challenges related to monopoly concerns in the sport.
