Japan Police Agency Expands DNA Review to 239 Cases, Says Most Investigations Unaffected

The agency released its report on a special inspection that examined 643 DNA tests connected to the former employee.
The report concluded that the agency cannot rule out the possibility that investigations were negatively affected in 37 of those cases, including instances where retesting was impossible.
National Police Agency Commissioner-General Yoshinobu Kusunoki spoke at a news conference in Tokyo on June 4, 2026, the same day the report was issued. jp reported the updated figures and the scope of the review.
