Japan Raises Visa Fees for Most Categories but Keeps Temporary Visitor Visas Free for Filipinos

The Japanese embassy in Manila clarified Thursday that temporary visitor visas for Philippine nationals intending to stay a maximum of 90 days in Japan remain free. “Please note that Temporary Visitor Visa (for stay within 90 days at maximum) for Philippine Nationals remains as gratis,” the embassy stated.
Japan will raise fees for other visa categories for the first time in almost five decades beginning July 1.
Single-entry visas will cost approximately 15,000 yen, or around P5,600, while multiple-entry visas will cost approximately 30,000 yen, or around P11,300, according to Japan’s Foreign Ministry. Single-entry tourist visas are valid for use within three months of issuance. The embassy advised applicants to apply well ahead of travel because processing can take several weeks amid rising demand.
