U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club after suffering a back injury. ESPN reported that Day was 7 over after 10 holes when he stopped play and left the course in a golf cart with his caddie, Luke Reardon.
Day, 38, grimaced and struggled to turn during a practice swing on the 10th hole, which was his first hole of the day. He finished 7 over on the back nine, including six straight bogeys on holes 5 through 10. Day tied for second at the American Express earlier this season and tied for 12th at the Masters.
He tied for 65th at the PGA Championship and missed the cut at the Memorial two weeks ago. He is currently ranked 47th in the world.
