Jill Biden’s memoir “View From the East Wing” is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. The Atlantic obtained a copy ahead of publication. In a CBS News interview that aired on Sunday, May 31, 2026, Jill Biden said she thought her husband was having a stroke while watching the 2024 presidential debate.

“I was frightened, because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never,” she said. The interview marked her first public appearance since her husband left the White House. Jill Biden said in the same interview that she never saw signs of cognitive decline while her husband was president.

“He was the same, the essence of the same Joe Biden, but yeah, he was slowing down. He was getting older,” she said. ” She also stated she suspected her husband may have been inadvertently impaired after taking cough syrup.

The Democratic National Committee released a 192-page report dissecting the 2024 loss on May 21, 2026. DNC Chairman Ken Martin shared the report after coming under pressure from Democratic operatives. President Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday, May 30, 2026.

He wrote that Jill Biden was “finally admitting” that she did not know what was wrong with her husband during the 2024 presidential debate. Trump noted that she did not compliment his debate performance. ” he wrote.

Meghan Hays said on C-SPAN’s “Ceasefire” that although she understands Jill Biden is trying to sell books, the timing is not helping Democrats ahead of the midterm elections. “We have a lot of momentum in our favor ... and when we get pulled back into conversations about age and the election in ‘24, it’s never gonna be a good place for Democrats,” she said.
