washingtonpost.comDemocratic Maine Senate nominee Graham Platner cancelled a planned interview with MS NOW after new allegations emerged that he sent sexually explicit messages to women on the Kik messaging app. MS NOW host Eugene Daniels stated that the campaign had initially requested the appearance but later withdrew. Daniels told Mediaite that the decision followed the release of the new allegations.
Platner’s former political director Genevieve McDonald told CNN that Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, had warned the campaign in spring 2025 about the messages. ” Platner’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation. One of his top aides reportedly threatened to defame McDonald if she did not retract her statements.
Platner has faced previous scrutiny over his private life. A March 2017 Reddit post attributed to him discussed personal habits in explicit terms. He has also been criticized over a tattoo on his chest that some described as linked to a Nazi symbol; he has said the tattoo was a drunken mistake that he later covered.
