Jon Gruden slated to call NFL preseason game while lawsuit against league remains pending

Jon Gruden is slated to call an NFL preseason game, Fox News reported. Ira Kaufman of JoeBucsFan said he believes Gruden will handle play-by-play duties. Gruden parted ways with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 during the third year of a 10-year contract after emails from his time as an ESPN analyst and Monday Night Football broadcaster surfaced showing racist, sexist and homophobic language.

He later sued the NFL, alleging a malicious and orchestrated campaign to destroy his career through the leaks. The Nevada Supreme Court ruled in August that the case could proceed in court rather than arbitration. In October the court unanimously denied the NFL's petition to reconsider that decision.

Gruden has conducted film study-style interviews with prospective quarterbacks for Barstool Sports. His agency did not immediately respond to an email from Fox News Digital. In July Gruden said he was looking for a coaching job.

"Hopefully I’m not done. I’m about to make a comeback," he said. "I don’t care if I coach at Jones Junior High. " He also denied receiving any offer from the New York Jets. Gruden won the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2003.
