Josh Hokit Defends Comment Comparing Michelle Obama’s Work Ethic to a Man’s

Josh Hokit said he thought he was giving Michelle Obama a compliment when he commented on her at the White House. He stated that the remark referred to her ability to deal with adversity and work hard when times get tough. Hokit added that he did not view the comment as suggesting Michelle Obama was a man.

He described the moment as an opportunity to demonstrate freedom of speech in the United States. "In other parts of the world, you say something like that and you die," Hokit said. He also stated that he would not backtrack from his statements during his career.
