Justin Thomas, an American professional golfer, recorded the first hole-in-one of the 2024 Masters Par 3 Contest on the second hole. Thomas's family, positioned behind the tee box, applauded after the shot. However, Thomas first turned to face his playing partners, Jordan Spieth and Max Homa, and made a hand gesture suggesting payment on a bet. The gesture involved rubbing his fingers together, which GB News reported as indicating a financial wager among the three golfers.

The Masters Par 3 Contest, held annually since 1960, features golfers competing on a nine-hole par-3 course at Augusta National.

This year's contest marked the 64th edition, with Sam Snead winning the inaugural event. A total of 116 holes-in-one have been recorded in the competition's history prior to Thomas's shot. The par-3 course measures approximately 1,250 yards in total, with holes ranging from 70 to 140 yards.

Participants often include current and former Masters competitors, along with family members. The contest serves as a lighthearted prelude to the main tournament, which begins the following day.

Pelt after the hole-in-one, Thomas stated that he enjoyed the shot more than Spieth and Homa did.

He estimated his enjoyment was about 1,000 times greater than theirs. GB News reported this comment as suggesting a friendly wager, though details of the bet's structure remain unclear.

“I probably enjoyed that shot a lot more than Jordan and Max did," Thomas said. "Maybe 1,000 times more than they did.”
