Kai Asakura will face Qileng Aori at UFC Shanghai on August 29, yardbarker.com reported. Asakura moved to the bantamweight division in May after losing his first two UFC fights at flyweight, one by submission to Alexandre Pantoja and the other to Tim Elliott. He recorded his first UFC victory with a stoppage of Cameron Smotherman at UFC Macau.
The Japanese fighter holds 22 career wins, 17 of them finishes, after competing previously in the Rizin Fighting Federation. Aori enters with a 4-5-1 record in the UFC and two wins in his last six bouts. The 33-year-old Chinese fighter lost by TKO to Cody Haddon in May.
The Shanghai event features a bantamweight headliner between Umar Nurmagomedov and Yadong Song. Xiaonan Yan, Su Mudaerji and Ce Liu are also confirmed to compete.
