Kalshi Halts Flight-Cancellation Contracts but Adds Drug-Trial and AI Markets

Kalshi abandoned plans to offer prediction contracts on upcoming flight cancellations. The company had intended to begin listing the contracts on Wednesday, according to a regulatory filing. A Kalshi spokesperson said Thursday that the platform would not proceed with the contracts for now.

The proposed contracts would have covered airport-wide cancellations rather than individual flights and barred wagers by insiders such as TSA agents and airport and union officials. FlightAware declined to allow Kalshi to use its data to settle the contracts. On the same day, Kalshi introduced 13 contracts tied to the results of clinical drug trials.

It also expanded markets tracking the cost of AI compute and released its own version of the Bloomberg terminal.
