England has chosen Kansas City as its base for the World Cup after completing a pre-tournament camp in Florida. Argentina, the defending champions, will also operate from the city, along with the Netherlands and Algeria. Kansas City stepped in as a host after Chicago withdrew.
England will stay at the Inn at Meadowbrook and train at Swope Soccer Village. The Football Association had sought the Compass Minerals National Performance Center but lost the site to Argentina. The Netherlands will use KC Current's facilities. Algeria will train at the University of Kansas. Two of England's group-stage matches will be played in Kansas City.
"We are delighted to welcome England," Pam Kramer, chief executive of KC2026, told PA. " Organizers expect the city's FIFA Fan Festival to draw large crowds. Around 25,000 fans attended the site to watch the United States defeat Paraguay 4-1 on Friday night.
