'Saigon' consists of eight episodes and will premiere on April 22 on the iHeartRadio app and other major podcast platforms.
New episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays. The series is the second title from the Thoroughbred Studios and iHeartMedia slate of historical podcasts.
Series Plot and Setting 'Saigon' is set against the backdrop of 20th century Vietnam and is based on the bestselling novel by Anthony Grey of the same name.
The series is narrated by Trinh, the granddaughter of two central characters. It begins in 1936 French-colonial Saigon, where an American journalist named Joseph reunites with his childhood friend Paul, now a French policeman. Joseph encounters Lan, the woman who will shape his destiny, in 1936 French-colonial Saigon.
Lan's brother Tran rejects his wealthy family's collaboration with the French to join Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary cause. Tran sets off an assassination that changes everything. The drama follows Joseph, Lan, Paul, and Tran through World War II, Japanese occupation, the rise of Vietnamese nationalism, and America's war in Vietnam.
The series follows the American journalist, voiced by Rob Benedict, who arrives in a city of glamour and colonial power and falls in love with a woman whose divided loyalties draw him into a world of revolution, danger, and impossible choices.

It may be set in the past, but it’s really about people caught in forces much bigger than themselves — trying to hold on to love, identity and truth as the world shifts around them.
Production Details Thoroughbred Studios is a joint venture of Jeff Bewkes, Sir Howard Stringer, and Jeremy Fox.
