Kentucky Derby Winner Golden Tempo Runs in Belmont Stakes at Saratoga
Golden Tempo returns to the track after skipping the Preakness Stakes. The 1.25-mile race at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday features nine entrants and a 7:04 p.m. ET post time.

The 2026 Belmont Stakes will be run Saturday evening at Saratoga Race Course, marking the third consecutive year the final Triple Crown race is held there while Belmont Park undergoes renovations. Golden Tempo, the Kentucky Derby winner, returns after bypassing the Preakness Stakes.
The horse is listed at 9/2 odds and will attempt to become the second straight Derby winner to also capture the Belmont.
Nine horses are entered.
Renegade is the 2-1 morning-line favorite after finishing second in the Kentucky Derby. Chief Wallabee, fourth in Louisville, is the 3-1 second choice. Golden Tempo drew post position nine. The remaining entrants and their morning-line odds are Vitruvian Man at 30-1, Power Shift at 12-1, Ottinho at 20-1, Growth Equity at 12-1, Commandment at 6-1, and Emerging Market at 6-1.
The race will be contested at 1.25 miles, the same distance as the Kentucky Derby. This shorter distance at Saratoga replaces the traditional 1.5-mile test at Belmont Park. Officials note that the shorter distance aligns the Belmont more closely with the Derby conditions, potentially improving the Derby winner's chances.
