New York PostKnicks center Karl-Anthony Towns said his fiancée Jordyn Woods did not support a 10-week celibacy suggestion that team owner James Dolan made before the playoffs.
During a Tuesday interview on SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show,” Towns discussed the suggestion Dolan offered in an April 3 speech. “I’m a happily engaged man,” Towns said when asked if he took the proposal seriously. Dolan’s comments drew attention after the “Roommates” podcast released a recording Monday.
In the speech Dolan said he had considered asking players to give up sex for the next 10 weeks to gain an edge, comparing the idea to Spartans who denied themselves pleasures.
Towns also spoke about his six-year relationship with Woods. The couple met through mutual friends and celebrated six years together in May. Their engagement took place in New York City on Christmas Eve. Towns said Woods supported him during the time his mother was passing and noted that Woods’ father had also recently died.
Woods is expected to attend the Knicks’ championship parade Thursday morning in New York.
