sportsnet.caNew York Knicks coach Mike Brown said Tuesday that getting Karl-Anthony Towns more touches remains a priority after the team lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs. Brown spoke at practice one day after Towns finished scoreless in the fourth quarter for the third straight game.
The Knicks offense produced only 47 second-half points and shot 25.9 percent in the fourth quarter. "It's extremely important that he's getting touches, that he's involved, not just in the fourth quarter but obviously throughout the ballgame," Brown said.
For the series he is averaging 16.7 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. The Knicks went 13-1 in the postseason the past two years in games when Towns recorded at least four assists. They are now 0-1 in this series after the Game 3 defeat.
Brown pointed to slower decision-making and reduced ball movement as factors in the loss. "There were a lot of times where the decisions weren't made quick last night," he said. Towns said the team has a game plan it must execute, especially late in games. Brunson also stressed attention to detail and game-plan discipline during his media session.
