Knicks Game 1 jersey sells for record $1.02 million at auction

A jersey worn by a New York Knicks player during Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals sold for $1,024,000 at Sotheby's on Wednesday after a 70-bid auction. The sale set a record for any collectible tied to that player and for any Knicks item of its kind. The jersey was authenticated by Professional Sports Authenticator as having been worn in the game.

Other jersey sales Two additional Knicks jerseys from the same game each sold for $256,000. A third jersey sold for $89,600. The $1.02 million price also exceeded the previous record for a jersey sold through NBA Auctions.

Player performance The player scored 30 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, in a 105-95 win. The team entered the final period tied with its opponent.

Collectibles market The day after the Knicks clinched the series, a collector paid $312,000 for a one-of-a-kind rookie card of the same player. That price more than tripled the prior record for the card. Fourteen sales of cards tied to the player reached at least $30,000 in June, with four exceeding $99,000.
