Knicks Players Joke About Missed Layup During Television Appearance
New York Knicks players discussed a missed layup from Game 4 during a Monday morning television segment. The exchange occurred while the team promoted Madison Square Garden as a wedding venue.
New York PostJalen Brunson referenced the play while answering a question about the arena. "A lot of great things happen there. When we're down one, and you miss wide-open layups," Brunson said while seated next to Josh Hart. Hart responded that the miss created an opportunity for a teammate's tip-in.
"For me, I just wanted to set up an epic last possession. We wouldn't have that OG tip-in without that missed layup," Hart said.
The missed layup occurred with just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Knicks trailed by one point at that stage of the game. Two missed free throws by an opposing player and a basket by Brunson followed the play. An OG Anunoby tip-in then secured the victory.
The Knicks won the series in five games and claimed their first championship since 1973. Brunson scored 45 points in Game 4.
The Knicks players who appeared on the program previously won a national championship together at Villanova in 2016. The team plans a parade through the Canyon of Heroes on Thursday.
