Team president Leon Rose, 65, was seen crying and embracing his son, Sam Rose, while seated among spectators. He later joined actor Timothée Chalamet on the court for post-game celebrations.

At that time the team had not recorded a winning season under the prior leadership. Subsequent roster moves included the signing of Jalen Brunson in 2022 and trades that brought in OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Mikal Bridges.
Coaching and roster changes In the 2025 offseason, Rose ended the tenure of head coach Tom Thibodeau and appointed Mike Brown. Additional signings that offseason added Jordan Clarkson and Landry Shamet, while Jose Alvarado joined the roster at the trade deadline.
Rose outlined organizational goals in a letter sent to fans upon his hiring. The letter stated that ownership, athletes, staff, and fans all wanted the team to become a winner and that resources would be provided to build a winning culture. The Knicks last appeared in the NBA Finals in 1999.
They are four wins away from a championship, their first since 1973. The opposing conference finalist will be determined after Game 5 on Tuesday night.
