Knicks Win 2026 NBA Title, Defeating Spurs 94-90
New York secured the championship on June 13 with a Game 5 victory at Frost Bank Center. Jeremy Sochan, recently acquired by the Knicks, featured prominently in postgame celebrations.
nypost.comThe New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals on June 13 at Frost Bank Center, securing their first NBA championship since 1973 and ending a 53-year title drought. Jeremy Sochan, shirtless on the court, attempted to climb the Larry O'Brien trophy display shortly after the final buzzer.
When he first tried to scale the trophy, it began wheeling away and nearly sent him to the floor, drawing gasps from the surrounding crowd.
While Jalen Brunson conducted a live interview with Craig Melvin, Sochan successfully climbed the trophy, posed for a camera, then approached Brunson, greeted him, and cheered during the remainder of the interview. In the Knicks locker room after the game, Sochan continued celebrating shirtless with teammates and was filmed eating steak directly off the bone while dancing.
Sochan had limited playing time during the series.
He appeared for the first three minutes of the first half in Game 4 and briefly entered Game 5. Sochan was waived by the Spurs in February 2026 and signed a one-year contract with the Knicks shortly afterward, guaranteeing him a championship ring regardless of the series outcome.
On June 14, after returning to New York, Sochan posted Instagram stories showing himself shirtless in a car while wearing an NBA Champions hat and goggles.
In one clip, he stuck his head out the window and lost the goggles.
