Frazier said he expected Brunson to average 20 points and six assists when the Knicks acquired him in 2022. Frazier added that he initially thought Brunson would struggle against taller defenders in the playoffs. Brunson exceeded those expectations by finding ways to score against larger opponents.
45-point total in the clincher is the highest for a road team closing out the NBA Finals since Michael Jordan scored 45 against the Jazz in 1998. The Knicks defeated the Spurs to secure the title.
