The Knicks trailed by double digits before rallying to victory. Brunson accounted for nearly half the team's points in the contest. The Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy was presented to the Knicks for the first time since 1973.
Brunson entered the NBA as the 33rd pick in the 2018 draft. He played four seasons with the Dallas Mavericks before joining the Knicks. His father, Rick Brunson, appeared in the 1999 NBA Finals with the Knicks and later returned to the organization as an assistant coach in 2022.
