Korean fans tailgated outside Estadio Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico, before their team’s Group A World Cup match against Czechia on Thursday. Mexican fans who had just watched their national team defeat South Africa 2-0 walked past the Korean gathering. Korean supporters passed around a bottle of tequila and poured shots into one another’s mouths.
Two Mexican fans accepted shots from the Korean group, then danced and sang with them. Korea defeated Czechia 2-1 inside the stadium. ” The Source, a Korean outdoor shopping mall in Buena Park, held a watch party on its grounds.
Fans brought their own chairs and blankets and gathered across three levels of the building to watch the match. A separate watch party took place in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Fans there performed self-orchestrated chants through a microphone connected to a speaker, banged thundersticks, cheered with pompoms and waved the Korean flag.
