Marta Kostyuk defeated a fellow Ukrainian player 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 on Tuesday to reach her first major semifinal at the French Open. The victory set up a semifinal against Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva, who defeated Romanian veteran Sorana Cirstea 6-0, 6-3.

Mensik ended Joao Fonseca's run with a 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory. Mensik will next face second-seeded Alexander Zverev, who advanced after defeating Rafael Jodar 7-6 (3), 6-1, 6-3.

Kostyuk leads Andreeva 2-0 on the tour, including a win in the Madrid final a month ago.
