A subcommittee of the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee disciplinary committee will meet next Tuesday to decide whether to schedule a hearing on Pai Chai High School's appeal of a six-month ban, a KSOC official said on July 10. Pai Chai submitted the appeal to the KSOC, which reviews decisions by national sports federations. The KSOC disciplinary committee is scheduled to meet July 20, but the official said a backlog of other appeals makes it unclear whether Pai Chai's case will be reviewed that day.
Unless overturned, the suspension will keep Pai Chai out of the Bonghwang High School Baseball Tournament next month. Pai Chai baseball players and parents visited Gwangju Jeil High School in Gwangju on July 6 to apologize in person. Students from both schools also visited the May 18th National Cemetery to pay respects.
Pai Chai's alumni association called for leniency last week. Gwangju Jeil's faculty and alumni association echoed the request on July 7.
