A Labour MP representing York Outer appealed directly to Nigel Farage to limit his public statements after bodycam footage of an 18-year-old student's death circulated widely. The MP said the footage prompted him to speak as a father and asked Farage to respect the wishes of the student's father, who had stated he did not want the incident to foster division or hatred.

The MP told GB News that the current period is divisive and urged Farage to use his platform to call for calm rather than continued division. He noted that Farage had been the only member among 650 MPs in a recent parliamentary session to respond in that manner and asked him to reconsider his approach.

" The Labour MP said he disagreed with some recent remarks by a cabinet minister on welfare policy and stressed that young people should not remain dependent on benefits long-term. The MP said the family of the deceased student had requested restraint in public discussion of the incident.

" — Labour MP Luke Charters, 03/06/2026 (GB News) >"I’m begging with him. Nigel, please, for the communities in Southampton across this country.
