The hologram is located near the terminal's Food Hall and can give real-time guidance to gates, shops, airport lounges, baggage claim, and other locations. It offers live mapping and step-by-step directions.
Bridget is described as the first fully interactive AI hologram in the airline industry by LaGuardia Gateway Partners, the terminal's manager and developer. The system supports English and Spanish, with additional languages planned. It includes closed captioning, high-contrast displays, and a physical interface positioned for accessibility to those in wheelchairs.
The hologram is powered by Proto hardware and Holomeida's AI Concierge Wayfinder application.
Partners stated that Bridget is intended to supplement human guest support rather than replace it. 1 billion redevelopment project in 2022. Glenn E. Smith, Spatial Computing XP Architect, said in a statement that airports are seeking technologies that improve operational efficiency and create personalized journeys.
Proto Hologram founder David Nussbaum said the digital helper can provide more personalized information than static signage and passive video screens. He added that communication with humans remains the best way to help travelers and that AI-powered hologram avatars extend the reach of human guest experience ambassadors.
